WHAT A DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN
JESSE SAYS: One of the best parts of being a tea boss is I get to do things like hire artists in China trained in traditional painting styles and tell them I want a picture of a rat in a tea garden, eating a pizza, as a subway train zooms by in the background, and half a year later... it exists!
We created a mockup of this concept, sent it over to our artists in China, who hand-painted the original image which we then printed onto cups made from Dehua white porcelain.
There may be resemblances to other rats, and other pizzas, though these are incidental. We simply wondered what a high-status rodent mandarin official might be eating, and, when it comes to rats, we know they love pizza.
This is a strange and beautiful world we live in.
